SoulWAXXX

December 21st, 2009 · Covers, Dance, Mash-ups, Music, Pop, Remixes

A few months ago,  Soulwax appeared on Studio Brussel (radio station in Belgium) and played some rare tracks of theirs and other cool songs. I ripped the show and then cut out all the talk so I could listen to it again and again and again.

While it’s not outstanding quality as it’s on the radio, it’s still listenable and I thought I’d share it with you guys. I <3 Soulwax and 2manydjs.

In the order they appeared on the show:

  1. NY Excuse (Fast Version) – Soulwax
  2. Heartbeat (Soulwax remix) – Tahiti 80
  3. Pop Life (live) – Soulwax
  4. I Eat Visitors (live) – Soulwax
  5. Saturday vs Billie Jean – Soulwax
  6. Introversy (Radio Soulwax) – Soulwax
  7. Marchete ya! (Soulwax remix) – Moderatto
  8. Too many dj’s (Titan remix) – Soulwax
  9. Don’t you want me (Human League cover) – Soulwax
  10. Studio Song – Eeltent
  11. Eivissa – Die Verboten
  12. Last Christmas (Wham! cover) – Soulwax

Enjoy!

[REVIEW] Colonial Drones – Hallelujah The Hills

November 5th, 2009 · Alternative, Indie, Music

Never having heard of Hallelujah the Hills, I got Colonial Drones purely because of the cover. It jumped out and me and it’s a cool mosaic/collage/whatever.

Hallelujah the Hills are a Boston 6-piece with members even playing the cello and the trumpet! Colonial Drones is their sophomore album and unfortunately, I haven’t heard their first album so I am unable to make a comparison.

I don’t have much more to say about Hallelujah the Hills or Colonial Drones and would just say it’s a nice little album.

Score: 6/10

Hallelujah The Hills – Blank Passports

Hallelujah The Hills – Station

Hallelujah The Hills – Flight of the Paper Pilots

Love Exposure (2008)

November 1st, 2009 · Movies

Description (from Wiki):

Love Exposure (愛のむきだし Ai no mukidashi) is a 2008 Japanese movie that gained a considerable amount of notoriety in film festivals around the world for its duration of four-hour about love, family, lust, religion and the art of upskirt photography. It won many awards and positives reviews. The first version was originally six hours long, but was trimmed at the request of the producers. The movie was written and directed by Sion Sono

My thoughts:

Wow. Love Exposure was the best 4 hour movie I have ever seen. (It also happened to be the first 4 hour movie I’ve seen) At film festivals, people ignored this film for others because of the length, but it at no point does it feel too long. Somehow Sion Sono  manages to engross the audience for 4 hours with suspense and tension laid throughout. I actually wish it went on for longer and hope they release the full 6 hour version or a Director’s Cut one day.

It was an immensely satisfying experience. Some of my friends won’t watch foreign language films because reading subtitles “is too much effort”. They are idiots. And, they are missing out on something magical.

Despite the up-skirt pics etc, at no point does it become perverse or disgusting. It’s because that’s not what the films about.

I can’t wait to see it again. If you can, you should go see this!!!

This was my wallpaper this month. I used some website to make a “mosaic” of classic/simple album covers. (Although MPP and London Calling could be considered complex) I also listened to all of these albums. :)

My idea is to share a song from each of these albums with y’all. Enjoy.

Daft Punk – Crescendolls
